Trip to the Dominican Republic

The New England Blazers hand selected a 19u team to compete in the Dominican Republic from August 10th - 18th. The players accommodations will be at the all inclusive Grand Ventana Beach Resort in Puerto Plata.  The team will be lead by head coach Clint Chalk, and assistant coaches Josh Kieffer and Yuri Sanchez.  The team will compete against Major League prospect players throughout the country.  "This will be a great opportunity for these young players to experience what baseball is like in a different country, especially a 3rd world country," says Chalk.

The team will be visiting a little league program in Moca to donate used baseball equipment to the players and coaches in need.  The team will also participate with the Moca players in a pick up practice.  "The local players love to practice with an American team. The kids get excited to show off their talent in front of people who haven't seen them before," says Chalk.

"This team we have selected to head down to the Dominican Republic is very solid. We have HS and college players who know the game, and are excited to face the unknown challenges. As much as we want to go down there to win every game, it's not about winning.  It is all about the experience.  The experience of what it is like for players in the Dominican Republic to fight for a chance to leave the country for a baseball career," says Chalk.
